In my previous school, I took on the responsibility of overseeing and managing the peripatetic music program. I initiated the program from its inception, which involved tasks such as recruiting and hiring teachers, facilitating student sign-ups, creating timetables, implementing marketing strategies, and handling communication related to the program. The efforts proved fruitful, as the program flourished, attracting over 200 students and enlisting the expertise of 13 dedicated teachers.
I collaborated closely with Mr. Ryan Lewis, the South & East Asia Regional Consultant from ABRSM, to ensure the seamless organization and execution of all music examinations in our school. Additionally, we arranged for our students to participate in a special event hosted by ABRSM - "Making Music Together 2017," which took place at Eastin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
In addition to individual practice, I firmly believe that musicians enhance their skills by collaborating and playing alongside other musicians. I derive great pleasure from playing the saxophone in the school's Jazz Band, as it allows me to connect and create music with fellow students. Furthermore, I eagerly volunteer as the accompanist for the school's strings orchestra, which provides me with valuable experiences in supporting and harmonizing with a larger ensemble.
